The planned interconnection will contribute to greater security of supply and improved interconnection of transmission systems in the region. It will enable greater diversification of gas supply sources and further strengthen energy security. At the same time, the new infrastructure will be designed for the future transport of renewable gases such as hydrogen and biomethane.

As of 1 February 2026, Matija Bitenc has assumed the position of General Manager, while Aleš Gruden has taken on the role of Member of the Management Board of Plinovodi d.o.o. Both appointments were made following the approval of the Energy Agency, in accordance with the resolution of the Supervisory Board from November 2025.

As of 1 January 2026 the Transmission System Operator, Plinovodi d.o.o. offers transmission system users an additional capacity product at interconnection points: interruptible within-day capacity.
