Gas transmission network system operator has the right to monitor activities, carried out by the users of space and other operators in the gas transmission pipeline protective zone. The highest threat for the gas network is posed by uncontrolled interventions by third parties such as various earthmoving works in the gas network safety area which are not notified to the system operator in advance and which have not obtained consent by the system operator or are not controlled by the gas transmission network system operator.

In most cases, such works are as follows:

• construction of facilities partly or entirely in the direct vicinity of the gas pipeline or on it, or too close to a  gas network facility;
• deep ploughing, lower than 0.5 m above the pipe or setting up supports deeper than 1,00 m;
• digging for municipal lines (electricity and TV cables, water supply and sewage systems, etc.), not notified in advance and laying such lines above or across gas pipeline;
• drainage above the gas pipeline or in the gas network safety area;
• driving by heavy vehicles (construction machinery, trucks) over the gas pipeline outside of the range of road and in the gas network safety area.

Under the applicable legislation, each user of space or operator carrying out other activities in the gas network protective zone is obliged to obtain consent by the gas transmission network system operator prior to the beginning of any work.

At the request of the investor or contractor, the transmission system operator shall determine the project conditions on the basis of the valid legislation.

Within the process of giving consent, the system operator will check and verify whether the project solutions submitted to the system operator comply with the issued project conditions. The gas network pipelines will be marked and, if necessary, our expert staff will be present during the works carried out in the gas network safety area. Our experts will also explain all the measures that have to be taken into account during the works in order to establish general safety, your safety and the safety of gas network.

It is essential that you inform us about the planned works in the gas network safety area in time, i.e. within the deadline laid down in project conditions or in the consent specifying the measures for carrying out the works.

Consent is not required for usual cultivation of land in the gas network protective zone.
