Supervisory Board appoints new General Manager

At its meeting on 27 November 2025, the Supervisory Board of Plinovodi d.o.o. accepted the resignation of long-serving General Manager Marjan Eberlinc, who will retire at the end of January 2026. The Supervisory Board sincerely thanks him for over a decade of dedicated leadership and for his important contribution to the development of the company.

Leadership changes as of 1 February 2026

At the same meeting, the Supervisory Board appointed Matija Bitenc as the new General Manager of Plinovodi and Aleš Gruden as the new Member of the Management Board. Both will assume their duties on 1 February 2026, following approval by the Energy Agency.

The Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Anton Rop, emphasized: “We thank Mr. Eberlinc for his many years of service and his outstanding contribution to the development of the company. The Supervisory Board is convinced that, with his extensive experience in the energy sector, international environment and integration into the European energy space, Matija Bitenc will successfully lead the company in a period of modernization, investment, and energy transformation. The appointment of Aleš Gruden represents a significant strengthening of the management team, helping the company accelerate the development of advanced technologies, technical practices, and digital solutions.”

Matija Bitenc – an experienced leader in the energy sector

Within the management board, Matija Bitenc currently oversees investment activities, sustainability projects, regulatory affairs, and strategic development. The key areas of his work include the development of a multi-molecular transmission system, the digital upgrade of infrastructure, and long-term network planning.

He is also actively involved in European energy institutions, serving as a member of the ENTSOG Board and the IGU Strategic Council. Previously, he served as the General Manager of Geoplin, was a member of the management board of Petrol, and worked as a consultant at Deloitte and EY.

Aleš Gruden – Technical and Innovation Reinforcement

Aleš Gruden is joining Plinovodi from Petrol, where he leads the energy solutions division for household and small business customers. In the past, he headed natural gas distribution and served as the General Manager of Schneider Electric Slovenia.

He is joining Plinovodi as a reinforcement in the areas of distribution systems, digital platforms, and advanced energy technologies, with a strong focus on technical excellence and innovation.
